It is a healthy development that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has disbanded all commission counters enroute the shrine. There were complaints galore against all these counters as they charged undue commission/levies from pilgrims coming from different parts of the world.
The Shrine Board authorities are also requested to have a check on Ponywallas and Pithus as they too charge more rates than fixed by the Board. At times this leads to heated exchanges between the two parties and leaves unpleasant impression on the minds of pilgrims. One expects that the pilgrimage may pass in a spirituality surcharged atmosphere and not in heated atmosphere.
Besides, shopkeepers two indulge in fleecing of innocent pilgrims unaware of local conditions, as they are sold things at exorbitant rates. This types of action was long awaited. Better late than never.
