JAMMU, Sept 11: A meeting of Panun Kashmir (PK) and Panun Kashmir Yuva (PKY) was held here, today in which an appeal was made to the community to intensify the struggle for a separate homeland within the Valley and take a solemn pledge on this year’s Balidan Diwas to take the Marg Darshan resolution of 1991 to its logical conclusion.
Reviewing the preparedness for Balidan Diwas, the leadership underlined that this year’s commemoration carries historic importance with the introduction of the Veer Jyoti, a flame of remembrance and resolve to be lit for the first time as part of the community’s larger memorialization efforts. PK Yuva has been entrusted with a leading role in this regard.
Chairman PK, Dr. Ajay Chrungoo said the Margdarshan resolution is a corner stone for KPs struggle and 36 years exile and genocide of the community is a testament to the fact that separate homeland within Valley with UT status is the only solution to reverse the genocide.
Vice chairman, Dayaji Kaul observed that the step carries deep symbolic value. He explained that memorialization through the Veer Jyoti reflects the community’s determination to preserve its collective memory and ensure that the history of its suffering is not erased.
General secretary, PK, Kuldeep Raina stressed that the introduction of the Veer Jyoti would resonate deeply within the community, adding that its presence will affirm continuity of struggle and remembrance.
Organizing secretary, B.L. Kaul said the establishment of a permanent site for the Veer Jyoti would create an enduring symbol of sacrifice. He underlined that the initiative represents the community’s commitment to future generations.
Senior Activist Balji Marhata, media secretary, M.K. Dhar and others also spoke on the occasion.
They said the Veer Jyoti will be lit on September 14 and later carried in a procession to Bhadrakali Asthapan, where it will be formally handed over to the temple management for installation at a dedicated memorial site.
