JAMMU, Feb 12: BJP senior leader and former Health Minister, Bali Bhagat while attacking the Omar Abdullah-led Government, alleging that the administration has failed to address the alarming number of vacant posts across Government departments, resulting in the weakening of governance and public service delivery.
Reacting to the Government’s admission in the Assembly that over 77,000 posts are lying vacant across 38 departments, Bhagat said the figures expose the “administrative failure and lack of seriousness” of the present Government. He questioned how departments can function effectively when such a massive number of sanctioned posts remain unfilled.
Bhagat pointed out that under the direct recruitment quota alone, 3,808 gazetted, 24,507 non-gazetted and 12,351 MTS posts are lying vacant, while under the promotion quota, 6,409 gazetted, 24,451 non-gazetted and 5,573 MTS posts remain unfilled. He said the figures clearly indicate serious mismanagement and delay in strengthening the administrative structure.
