NEW DELHI, Apr 8: Baldev Raj Sharma, MLA, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency, called on Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh at New Delhi, today to discuss crucial development initiatives for the holy town of Katra with him.
During the meeting, Baldev Sharma submitted detailed representations and sought the Minister’s support for the development of smart roads and allied infrastructure in Katra. The proposal includes provisions for 24×7 electricity supply and access to fresh drinking water, with a Project Proposal Report (PPR) amounting to Rs 2120.09 crore.
He also highlighted the importance of the timely completion of the Intermodal Station (IMS) Project in Katra, emphasizing its significance in enhancing connectivity and facilitating the movement of pilgrims and residents.
The proposed initiatives aim at the comprehensive and sustainable development of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency, catering to both the growing number of pilgrims and the local population.
Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the concerns raised and assured his full support for the early approval and effective execution of these key projects.
The MLA said Inter Model Station (IMS) Project at Katra is a project of great importance in view of the continuous influx of lakhs of the pilgrims to holy shrine.
The MLA said that entire tendering process of the Project stands completed, including floating of tenders, evaluation and finalisation of L1 bidder besides, all procedural formalities have already been concluded. However, despite completion of these critical stages, the project has not progressed to the execution phase and is facing under delays on the ground, which is causing concern among the general public.
He sought immediate intervention of the Union Minister in matter so that the work on Rs 2120 crore Project is started to give a complete facelift to Katra township.
