JAMMU, Mar 26: Senior Congress leader and former Member of Legislative Council, Thakur Balbir Singh met Rahul Gandhi at New Delhi and briefed him about the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the former Legislator sought the intervention of Rahul Gandhi to save the J&K residents from prevailing anarchy and chaos. He said the residents of J&K have been bearing the brunt of the worst-ever governance deficit due to dictatorial policies being pursued by the BJP controlled administration.
Former MLC sought the attention of Rahul Gandhi towards fueling alienation among all sections of the society because the incumbent regime, as part of its evil designs, is hell-bent to disempower residents of Jammu and Kashmir- both economically and politically.
Singh informed the Congress leader that land and job rights of the people of J&K have been snatched and those at the helm of the affairs are forcing the educated unemployed youth to come on the streets and roads. The BJP-controlled administration in J&K is pursuing anti-youth policies to protect the interests of the mafia by issuing one after another dictatorial order to deny rights to employment to the highly qualified youth.
The former MLC told Rahul Gandhi that policies pursued by the J&K administration would be proved disastrous in the highly sensitive border state of J&K. “The only noticeable achievement of incumbent Government is flourishing of the mafia in every sphere of life. Those at the helm of the affairs have virtually handed over this highly-sensitive state to the mafia to loot and plunder its resources”, Singh told Gandhi and urged him to save residents of J&K from prevailing anarchy.
Singh further said that J&K has been plunged into an unprecedented crisis after the abrogation of Article 370 and downgrading of the erstwhile state into two Union Territories (UTs). He pointed out that democratic institutions have been bulldozed by those at the helm of the affairs to hide their misdeeds.
While seeking the support of Rahul Gandhi to restore statehood for J&K, Singh said that job and land rights must be restored to the local residents. He said present dispensation is desperately trying to delay Assembly elections in J&K.
He further urged Rahul Gandhi to mobilize all secular forces of J&K to frustrate evil designs of BJP-controlled administration in J&K.
