Balbir asks party workers to gear up activities for elections

JAMMU, Nov 13: Senior Congress leader and Member Legislative Council, Thakur Balbir Singh today asked the party activists to gear up their activities in view of the Panchayat elections in the State.
Addressing party workers’ meeting of Majalta Block at Mansar in district Udhampur today, the Congress MLC appealed to the people to elect honest, dedicated and committed people for the Panchayats. He said that women should also come out in good number to actively participate in the elections as many seats have been reserved for them in different Panchayat Halqas.
While launching attack on the previous BJP-PDP regime in the State, the Congress Legislator alleged that previous Government miserably failed to deliver to the public on ground. He alleged that Mansar Majalta, Saruinsar and Madoon belt were facing acute shortage of water. The pump houses/ motors remain out of order for weeks and months due to which the people are left to suffer.
He said the power supply position was also grim. These villages depend on the old and fragile power infrastructure which needs immediate up-gradation. He demanded that capacity of transformers be enhanced or additional electric transformers be installed in the villages besides at Majalta and Mansar. He demanded that in view of the tourism potential of Mansar and Saruinsar, new tourism projects be sanctioned for these places and sufficient parking slots be created there. The MLC further demanded that road from Battal to Manwal which is lying in shambles since long be improved/repaired without any further delay.
Balbir Singh urged upon the party workers to gear up their activities as the Assembly elections are expected to take place during middle of next year.
Former DCC president for Udhampur, Ashok Gupta, BCC president Majalta Om Parkash and senior leader Ch Mohd Latief also spoke on the occasion.
