JAMMU, Jan 11: 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Madan Lal has rejected the bail application of one Malik Umaid alias Abdullah, ISJK Commander who was arrested by SOG Jammu in the year 2021 along with one pistol, eight rounds and Rs 1,13,000 cash.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “the trial of the case is at the mid stage, only 08 prosecution witnesses have been examined and charges have been framed on 02.07.2022. The offences charged against the accused are punishable with imprisonment for life”.
“The case law cited by the petitioner is older in point of time and the case-law cited by the prosecution is recent in point of time, so the latter has to be given preference and the ground taken by the petitioner that there is delay in the completion of trial cannot be accepted for grant of bail”, the court said while rejecting the bail application.
