JAMMU, June 4: Special Municipal Mobile Magistrate Jammu Rajni Bhagat has rejected the bail application of Jameel Anjum, who duped innocent unemployed youth on the pretext of providing Government jobs.
According to the Crime Branch, the applicant Jameel Anjum, son of Nasir Ahmad of Ustad Mohalla Jammu was arrested on the written complain of Rashid Manhas, son of Sajed Khan of Gujjar Nagar Jammu wherein he alleged that the accused person duped him of Rs 10 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of providing Government jobs to the complainant and his sister.
After hearing APP Ashwani Kumar for the UT whereas Advocate Dinesh Verma for the applicant, Special Municipal Magistrate observed, “perusal of the material on record reveals that the accused is involved in a well-orchestrated criminal conspiracy whereby he impersonated himself as a person with high-level connections in the Civil Secretariat and Education Department”.
“He deceitfully induced the complainant and his family into paying huge amounts of money on the false assurance of providing Government jobs. Forged appointment letters and other fabricated documents were supplied to bolster the deceit. The material collected during investigation prima facie indicates that the accused is not only a repeated offender but has made crime a profession, having more than 10 FIRs registered against him on similar allegations”, the court said.
“Furthermore, the investigation is at a crucial stage, where recovery of forged documents, identification of co-accused, and seizure of electronic gadgets used for fabrication of fake appointment letters is still underway. Granting bail at this juncture may result in tampering with evidence and influencing the witnesses”, the court said while dismissing the bail application
