JAMMU, Sept 9: All India Backward Classes Union has criticized the State Government for delay over enhancing creamy layer income limit from Rs 4.5 lakh for the OBCs when the Centre had already increased it from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
A meeting of the executive body of the Union was held where the State Government was charged with failure to deliver justice to the backward classes. “Poor people of the State had great hopes from the present dispensation in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi made big and high promise of implementing the Mandal Report but nothing was done in this regard,” the meet said.
The meet appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to enhance the creamy layer income limit from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh at par with Central Government and also enhance OBC reservation to 27 percent.
The Union also asked the Chief Minister to look into the OSC Certificate renewal case, which is not required under section 24 on page 24 of the Reservation Act 2005 but the concerned certificate issuing authorities were allegedly harassing the poor people for the same. “Instead of renewal, a process for fresh certificate is asked thus forcing people to harassment, he added.
Those who were present in the meeting, included Sandokh Chand, Mohd Rashid Fouji, Rajinder Singh, Abdul Razak, M R Bangotra, Prof Kali Dass, Master Sain Dass and others.
