JAMMU, Jan 24: Alleging that Congress always damaged OBCs in J&K, All India Backward Classes Union has accused the leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad of making directionless and meaningless statements over abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.
“Azad, talking to media persons during his visit to Jammu on January 17, claimed that J&K never suffered so much in 70 years as has suffered in the past five months after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A. We want to ask what are the additional sufferings in past five months then those prevalent during the Congress rule here?” asked Prof Kali Dass, general secretary of the Union.
He alleged that there was no justice in the State under the shadow of Article 370 as different rules and Acts of the choice of the treacherous rulers including Congress were made only to loot the rights of the poor people. “Congress Govts not only in the JK State but in the whole country never implemented the Indian Constitution. Congress never implemented the State’s Constitution too which under Article 50, sub section 6, empowered the Governor to nominate eight MLCs who should be purely non political and out of which three should have been from the OBCs. This rule never saw the light of the day since independence. Who was responsible for this naked dance in the State? Azad must reply. What damage given to OBCs was beyond imagination,” Prof Kali Dass said.
Further, he alleged, a total injustice was done by Congress with the real OBCs of the State by giving OSC Status to them with only 2 percent reservation quota against 27 percent share granted by the apex court of the country in 1992. “Till date G N Azad and other top Congress leaders have not uttered even a single word over the sufferings of the State OBCs and always did hanky panky with no specific agenda,” he added.
Kali Dass informed that the State OBCs have met the Lt Governor G C Murmu and the Chairman of National Commission for Backward Classes who have fully assured for the due rights of the OBCs in view of the abrogation of Article 370 under the principle ‘One Nation -One Law’.
