‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrated with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Mar 12: Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav–the 75-week commemoration of the country’s 75th year of Independence, was celebrated across Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with patriotic fervor.
Department of Education, University of Jammu organized a webinar on the Ethos of the Independence in the pre and post Independent India in which more than 100 students, scholars and faculty members of the various departments of the University participated through Google meet.
Prof Manoj K Dhar, the Vice-Chancellor of the University presided over the function. Prof Rajeev Rattan Sharma, the Head of the Department of Education presented the struggle for Independence through the lens of the History and the ethos of the Indians in achieving the Independence in a systematic manner.
The welcome address was presented by the Dean Faculty of Education, Prof Renu Nanda. Dr Kajal Nanda anchored the program. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr SK Panda. Besides others, Prof Mubarak Singh, Prof Arvind Jasrotia, the Registrar and Minakshi Chaudhary also attended the program.
University of Kashmir also joined the country-wide ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations. In the main campus, Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad led the celebrations as chief guest, while Talat Pervez Rohella, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department and Prof Akbar Masood, Vice-Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri were the guests of honour.
The ceremony, held in line with the objectives of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations, was attended by top administrative officers.
During the ceremony, the participants joined the proceedings of the main ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the virtual mode.
Dulhasti Power Station organized Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav program. On this occasion, a symposium, essay writing and painting competition on the topic of ‘India’s Freedom Struggle was organized for the students at the Kendriya Vidyalaya of Power Station.
On the occasion, the chief guest was Nirmal Singh, General Manager (in-charge), Dulhasti Power Station, while RN Sharma, General Manager (Civil), Ashok Kumar Dhanwal, Senior Manager (HR) and Kewal Singh, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya were also present.
Teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya presented patriotic poems. A total of 62 students including 10 students participated in the seminar, 41 in essay writing competition and 11 in painting competition.
During the program, Shailendra Kumar Yadav, Assistant Manager (PR), Dulhasti Power Station and teachers, staffs and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya were present.
GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr Ravender Tickoo started Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations. NSS volunteers under guidance of NSS PO Dr Deepali Mahajan made videos to aware the young generation about the sacrifices made and the lessons of non violence and satyagrah learnt by the Dandi March.
As part of various activities being organized to celebrate 75 years of Independence a statue cleaning campaign was organized by cadets of 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC and 2 J&K Battalion NCC, Jammu. Brimming with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit the cadets cleaned the statue of General Bikram Singh installed at Bikram Chowk, Jammu under the supervision of NCC officers. The campaign was organized under the directions of NCC Group Headquarters, Jammu.
While addressing the cadets after paying floral tributes to General Bikram Singh at his statue, Brigadier NR Babu, Officiating ADG, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate highlighted the aims of this campaign.
