Awareness workshop on tax paying issues organized at SKPA

UDHAMPUR, May 25: To sensitize staff and trainees of Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, a one-day workshop on “basic concept of Income tax deductions, TDS procedure of paying Income Tax, merits of paying Income Tax and overall e-filing of Income tax” was organized here at SKPA by the officers of Income Tax Department.
The basic objective of the workshop was to assess the perception and awareness of tax-payers on gender basis towards e-filing of income tax returns as well as to satisfy tax-payers on gender basis towards e-filing of income tax returns.
During the workshop, various issues of Income Tax payers were explained live through online. Dervinder Gupta, Income Tax Officer, said, “E-filing is a new system for submitting tax documents to the income tax department through the internet or direct connection, usually without the need to submit any paper documents. Now no longer have to stand in long queues and no waiting for deposits”.
He further said that Customized return forms have been devised by the Income Tax Authority which is available on the site of the department. “Enabling the filing of income tax returns over the internet was the most viable answer to the department’s needs”, he added.
The occasion was also graced by Director, SKPA Udhampur, IGP Rajesh Kumar, who stated that the satisfaction level of tax-payers towards e-filing, accessibility of e-filing and easiness of e-filing of income tax return is very low as tax practitioners must be a credible source of information for tax payers since they are to offer tax advice.
He suggested that alternative arrangements for filing Income tax return for those tax payers who are not familiar with computer basics and are totally dependent on tax practioners. He also stressed upon proper guidance by department about tax saving investments by salaried employees as well as by others.
At the end, Director SKPA Udhampur presented a memento to the team of Income Tax Department as a token of respect.
