JAMMU, Sept 23: Food Safety wing of Drugs and Food Control Organization organized an awareness camp for vegetable and fruit sellers at Vegetable & Fruit Market, Muthi Camp.
A large number of vegetable and fruit sellers of the market were present during awareness camp, which was conducted by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Jammu under the supervision of Commissioner Food Safety.
The Assistant Commissioner was accompanied by Food Safety officers Ajay Khajuria, Parvez Chowdhary, Renu Bharati and Istaiq Ahmed. Along with Food Safety officers, the Assistant Commissioner gave a brief lecture to fruit & vegetable sellers in which he educated them about the norms of Food Safety and Standards Act.
The fruit & vegetable sellers were asked to sell good quality of fruits and vegetables to the customers and not to purchase bruised or damaged produce from the farmers. They were impressed upon not to use any pesticides or chemicals for ripening fruits. Dr Parvesh also asked the fruit & vegetable sellers to maintain hygiene at all levels at their shops.
The Assistant Commissioner also said that those who have not yet registered themselves under FSS Act, should get them registered without any delay.
