JAMMU, Nov 2: Avtar Singh Khalsa an elected member of  District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu has been nominated as its general secretary today.
The announcement to this effect was made by the chairman of the J&K Gurdwara Parbandhak Board (JKGPB) and Ex MLC, T S Wazir at a press conference here this morning.
He said Khalsa will function as general secretary of DGPC in place of Harjinder Singh who submitted his resignation from the post on health grounds.
Wazir said the decision was taken after proper consultation and discussion with religious and political Sikh organizations by the Board to foster unity among the Sikh community in the State and to create a positive environment for the development and upliftment of Sikh community, religiously as well as politically.
He also lauded the dedication and services of Harjinder Singh the outgoing general secretary of DGPC and said his rich experience will always remain a guiding force for the functioning of DGPC Jammu.
Khalsa while expressing his full faith and confidence in the leadership of T S Wazir termed it as his home coming and said that he can serve the community in much better way under the leadership of Wazir.
Jathadar Mohinder Singh, Jagjit Singh president Jammu, Harjinder Singh ex general secretary, Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary, Kuldeep Singh, vice president Jammu, Mohinder Singh, Joint Secretary Jammu, Manmohan Singh cashier of DGPC Jammu were also present in the press conference.
