JAMMU, May 23: Aam Admi Party J&K unit has cautioned the Lt Governor’s Administration not to ruin the career of Geology and Mechanical Engineering degree holders in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting sharply to the recent decision of the J&K Administration to engage JKAS officers against the Technical posts in the Geology and Mining department, AAP leader Rajesh Gupta, flanked by the unemployed Geology and Mechanical Engineering candidates, at a press conference here today said that in violation of standing norms and rules, LG’s administration has recently placed non-technical people against the purely technical posts in the G&M.
He said the Geologists have already very limited scope of absorption in Govt jobs and now by filling up over a score of technical posts by non-technical JKAS officers in G&M, the LG’s administration was giving shocker after shocker to the highly qualified unemployed J&K youth. He said such anti-youth policies may lead to mass protests and major agitations in J&K.
The unemployed Geologists strongly condemned the Government decision for appointing JKAS officers against the technical posts in the Geology and Mining Department in the UT. They claimed that their future was being ruined by the LG administration by posting JKAS officers as DMOs.
They further said that such a move is against the rules and guidelines as enshrined in the SRO-105 dated March 31, 2016. They said many District Mineral Officers amongst the JKAS officers, having no technical qualification as provided in the Act, governing Mining activities in the country have been engaged. This is again, the violation of the Cabinet Decision No. 4 of 2017 and Govt order No. 33-IND of 2017 dated 17-02-2017 of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, which clearly states that “All the District Mineral Officers are to be drawn from the category of Drillers, Geologists Grade-II, Mineral Officers in the Grade Pay of Rs 5600 from the existing cadre strength of the Geology and Mining Department.”
Abhishek Dalmotra, a Geology degree holder said that after the abrogation of Article 370, new experiments are taking place in the UT with the initiative of people at the helm of affairs. Geology and Mining Department is the worst example of it. He warned to launch massive agitation of the Government failed to withdraw such decision.
