JAMMU, Sept 7: Aarakshan Virodhi Manch Jammu (AVMJ) today demanded special welfare schemes for the poor of all castes and religions by ending caste based reservations, quotas and special privileges.
The issue came up for discussion during the monthly meeting of the Manch held at Laxmi Nagar, Jammu under the chairmanship of Prof Yash Paul Sanson, general secretary of the Manch. In the meeting, various problems, being faced by the poor, needy and deserving of general category which includes Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and others were discussed in detail.
Addressing the meeting, Prof Sanson alleged that present Central Government like all previous Governments is anti-poor and anti-middle class and has been promoting casteism, communalism and dalitwad in the country for its vote bank politics insulting electoral democracy.
Som Nath Sharma, vice president of the Manch, said that it is great injustice to tax the lower middle class and to provide economic benefits to the progeny of upper class in the name of social justice and empowerment. “Indian electoral democracy is a big fraud as it deprives about 30 crore people from their right to the elected”, he added.
Ram Pal Seth, former president of the Manch, alleged that the continuation of caste based reservation is a blatant attempt of political parties to divide the society and get political gain.
BK Sharma, secretary of the Manch, said that it is high time for BJP Government to focus on removing the discrimination being done to the so called upper castes and adhere to the principles of equality and justice.
He ridiculed the forces of casteism, communalism and regionalism for exploiting innocent people to satiate their vested interests. Sharma further added that reservation has been given birth to administrative incompetency and has jeopardized the career of talented youths.
The Manch stressed for initiating special welfare schemes for the poor of all castes and religion by ending caste based reservations, quotas and special privileges.
