JAMMU, Nov 9: Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 23 animals besides affecting arrest of a smuggler and seizure of a truck.
These attempts were foiled by Police parties at Jakhani in Udhampur district and Chassana in Reasi district.
According to the police reports, a surprise naka was laid near Jakhani. One truck bearing registration number JK02AA-7405, which was on way towards Kashmir, was intercepted by the Naka party and during search of the vehicle, 12, bovine animals were found loaded. Sensing trouble, driver of the vehicle escaped from the spot while Police rescued the animals and seized the truck.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
In a similar success, Police rescued 11 bovine animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir valley via Nambal Bher in Chassana area of Reasi.
A Police team, led by SHO Chassana, SI Ranjeet Singh, laid a special naka at Nambal Bher and rescued the rescued from the possession of accused person, identified as Abdul Aziz of Chassana. The accused person has been arrested and a case was registered under Section 188 RPC at P/S Chassana.
