UDHAMPUR, July 14: An attempt to encroach forest land in Compartment 94-D of Dudu Range, near Patnitop Forest Check Post, was foiled by staff of Udhampur division.
Taking advantage of Government holiday on account of Martyrs’ Day, a group of 10-12 people started raising walls for construction of a kiosk and shop in forest area, adjoining to hotels and Forest Check Post, Patnitop. On getting the information of encroachment and illegal construction, the forest officials rushed to the spot and grounded the raised wall besides removing the material despite forceful protest by the encroachers and their associates.
