The meeting, which was chaired by president of the Committee Sham Lal Pandita said though compensation/rent by the Executive Engineer was recommended to district administration Kupwara vide his letter number 23//11/2023 but no compensation or rent was provided to the Committee. The meeting alleged that the district administration was adopting delaying tactics in this regard despite the repeated reminders by the committee to the concerned authorities. The meeting said the PHE Department in violation of Migrant Immovable Properties Prevention, Protection and Restraint on Distress Sale Act laid a slab on the holy Lovenag spring without taking the Committee into confidence and the PHE Department defied the directives of District administration in this regard. Besides, the agriculture land of the shrine has been encroached by digging it for using the earth of this land for making bricks and also walnut trees were planted by some encroachers in this land. The Committee said it made several complaints to concerned authorities including the higher ups in Government but to no avail. It said though several Committees were framed by the district administration for restoration of land to the shrine but nothing on ground was visible. In an appeal to Lt Governor the Committee demanded that the entire land of shrine including holy spring be restored to the Hindus of the area immediately.
