JAMMU, Oct 9: The Legislative Assembly session in Srinagar will last nine days and will have six sittings, according to the provisional calendar released today by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.

Beginning October 23, the Assembly session will last till October 31.
Obituary references will be taken up on October 23 while October 24 will be off day on account of voting for Rajya Sabha elections.
October 25 and 26 will be off days due to Saturday and Sunday.
Three days have been reserved for the Government business including October 27, 30 and 31. However, October 31 will have Government business only if it is pending.
One-day each has been fixed for private members’ bills and private members’ resolutions.
The private members’ bills will be taken up on October 28 and resolutions on October 29.
As per the calendar, the nine-day Assembly session will have six sittings.
This will be fourth session of the UT Legislative Assembly.
The first session was held in Srinagar last year from November 4-8. Budget session of the Legislature was held in Jammu this year from March 3 to April 9. A one-day special session of the Legislature was held on April 28 following April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians including 25 tourists and a local were killed.
The Assembly Secretariat has already invited questions, private members’ bills and resolutions from the MLAs which were scheduled to be submitted till October 5 and 7 respectively.
The MLAs had been asked to submit 10 questions each—five in starred and five in unstarred categories, two private members’ resolutions and one private members’ bill.
The issues of restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, detention of AAP MLA from Doda Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act, damages caused by floods are among the issues, besides others which may be taken up by different political parties in the Legislature.
There have been reports that the Government could bring fresh resolution on restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir in the Legislative Assembly.
