Assembly passes budget for 2026-27, supplementary grants for 2025-26

3 Appropriation bills get House nod

JAMMU, Mar 27: The Legislative Assembly today passed the budget for 2026-27 and Revised Estimates for 2025-26 in three Appropriation Bills moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who holds charge of the Finance Department.
Omar presented budget worth Rs 1.13 lakh crore in the Assembly on February 6 which was debated by legislators. The CM replied to the debate.
Subsequently, the demands for grants of all Ministers were debated and passed by the House.
With approval to the Appropriation Bill, the budget for 2026-27 has been passed by the Assembly and will come into effect from April 1, 2026.

The Legislative Assembly also passed supplementary grant for 2025-26 in the form of two Appropriation bills also moved in the House by the Chief Minister.
A Bill to authorize payment and appropriation of certain further sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the services of the financial year 2025-2026 (L.A. Bill No. 04 of 2026); and a Bill to authorize payment and appropriation of certain further sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the services of the financial year 2025-2026″ (L.A. Bill No. 06 of 2026); besides a Bill to authorize payment and appropriation of certain sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the services of the financial year 2026-2027″ (L.A. Bill No. 05 of 2026) were moved by the Chief Minister.
As debate on the budget and grants of the Ministries has already taken place in the Legislative Assembly, the bills were passed today.
The Legislature nod to the budget is mandatory before March 31 of every year.
The Assembly will tomorrow take up three official bills for consideration and passing.
