KATHUA, Jan 10: Terming the exercise of Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) towards creation of new administrative units in J&K as futile, Bharatiya Gujjar Mahasabha (BGM) has said that the aspirations of Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities are being ignored by the CSC.
BGM president, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal said that the CSC members are adopting a discriminatory approach towards the tribal Gujjars and Bakkerwals.
“They are not even ready to listen to their genuine and long pending demands”, Poswal said while talking to media persons after not being allowed by the CSC members to highlight the demands of Gujjar and Bakkerwal communities during their (CSC) visit here today.
He said that creation of separate Administrative Department of Tribal Affairs would help in proper utilization of central funds at the grass roots level.
“It would also help in proper implementation of Tribal Sub Plan under which Central Government grants funds for tribal communities”, he said.
He said that the CSC is ignoring the genuine issues in its exercise of reaching out to people and holding interactions to have feedback.
He added that by not allowing him and other members of the Sabha to highlight the issues, the CSC has deprived the downtrodden communities of their due share.
Among others present were Abdul Hamid Kasana, Nek Alam, Bashir-ud-Din Bania, Mohammad Rafiq, etc.
