RAJOURI, Sept 6: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at Budhal Police Station has been arrested on the charges of rape.
Official sources said that a young woman, from Budhal area whose husband works in Saudi Arabia, had gone to the police station Budhal on Saturday in connection with the complaint against a local. The ASI on duty sent her home on the pretext that he would visit her place and settle the issue.
The woman lodged FIR with the Police Station alleging that the said ASI committed rape on her. SHO, Budhal tried to down play the incident and said that inquiry is being conducted into the allegations.
SSP Rajouri, Chandan Kohli, however, said that the ASI Shabir Ahmed, resident of Plori in Darhal area and posted at Budhal Police Station has been arrested on the rape charges and a case under sections 376, 452 IPC has been registered against him. The medical examination of the woman was also got conducted. Further investigation was in progress, the SSP added.
