JAMMU, July 15: A poetry book titled “Kavita Ke Rang, Ashok Ke Sang”, authored by Ashok Sharma, was officially released today at a literary event graced by eminent personalities from various fields.

The book, a compilation of 51 poems, delves into a broad spectrum of themes ranging from local issues like water scarcity to national, social, and contemporary topics. The book has also some poems focused on Jammu City and the Indian Army.
The release ceremony held at Press Club Jammu, was led by chief guest V K Padha, Executive Director (Retd), NHPC, who praised Sharma’s poetic craft and expressed confidence that the book would be well-received by poetry lovers, just like his previous two collections.
Guest of honours at the event included noted Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi writer Pyasa Anjum; Dr Mritunjay Gupta, former Principal of GMC Udhampur; and renowned TV and stage director Rattan Langeh. They credited the poet’s efforts to blend societal issues with literary expression.
While addressing the gathering, Ashok Sharma shared insights into his literary journey. He recalled the release of his first poetry collection “Bharat Ke Prakarmi Veeron Ka Kavyaatmak Parichaye” in July 2023 and the second, “Mere Bharat Ke Gumnaam Nayak-Nayakiyan”, in November 2023.
The event was anchored by Dr Garo Choudhary from Vimal Munni College, Vijaypur, while Vrindavan Sher, a Hindi scholar, delivered the vote of thanks.
The event witnessed the presence of several literary and cultural figures including Vijay Atri, Dr Sudhir Mahajan, journalists Vijay Kumar Lochan and Jang S Verrman, Dr Karan Gupta, Sanskrit scholar Raghunandan Sharma, poet V K Singh, writer Nirmal Vinod, environmentalist KK Wadhera, and family members of the poet.
