UDHAMPUR, Jan 16: Eminent writer, columnist and poet Ashok Sharma released his latest book of poetry in English, titled ‘Silent Reveries’, at a simple yet impressive programme, here today.
The book was unveiled by Sushma Gupta, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Krimachi (Udhampur), in the presence of school staff and literary enthusiasts.
Ashok Sharma, an alumnus of the school who completed his matriculation in the session 1978-79, has authored seven books, with ‘Silent Reveries’ being his fifth poetry collection.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma reminisced about his school days and fondly remembered his teachers, including Tej Ram Khajuria, K C Gupta, and Hans Raj Sharma, for their invaluable guidance. He dedicated his book to their mentorship, acknowledging their role in shaping his academic foundation.
Describing ‘Silent Reveries’, Sharma highlighted that the anthology comprises 100 short poems exploring various themes such as love, nature, spirituality, joy, sorrow and rural life. He encouraged readers to delve into the collection and share their feedback.
Principal Sushma Gupta, while addressing the gathering, expressed immense pride in Sharma’s literary achievements. She commended him for bringing recognition to his alma mater through his contributions as a writer, poet and heritage enthusiast.
The event was graced by Shivdarshan Gupta and faculty members of the school, who appreciated Sharma’s dedication to literature and education and wished him success in his literary pursuits.
