Ashok Paras’ 1st Urdu poetry book ‘Aahatein’ released

JAMMU, Apr 19: In a well organized function held today at Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground (Jammu), the first Urdu poetry book of Ashok Sharma Paras entitled ‘Aahatein’ was released.
Dr SD Singh Jamwal, Additional DGP Security J&K was the chief guest on the occasion while S Afhadul Mujtaba (Member, J&K Public Service Commission) and Dr Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Head of Urdu Department, Jammu University were guests of honour.
Sohail Kazmi was special guest, PR Manhas (retd IGP) was special invitee and Dr Arvinder Singh Aman (Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages) presided over the function. A number of poets, literary personalities and prominent citizens of Jammu attended the function.
In his introductory address, Ashok Paras (Inspector in J&K Police and presently posted at Police Academy Udhampur) presented a detailed introduction of the book which comprises of a total number of 130 Gazals.
Published by Educational Publishing House New Delhi, the book ‘Aahatein’ is available at Qasmi Kutab Khana Khatikan Talab Jammu, Meeezan Publishers & Booksellers Batmaloo (Srinagar) and Tak publishers & Booksellers (Doda). It will also be available online through Amazon in next few days.
During the function, two papers giving a critical review of the book were read, one each by Fizia Mughal Zia (a prominent educationist and poetess) and Dr Shahnawaz Choudhary (Cultural Officer, JKAACL).
In his address, Dr SD Singh Jamwal said that members of J&K Police have ben working in very harsh and uncertain situations during the last 30 years and under such circumstances making a creation like ‘Aahatein’ is highly commendable on the part of Police Inspector Ashok Kumar Sharma Paras. He also mentioned that Paras has recently authored the theme song of J&K Police Academy Udhampur which was released about two months back.
Ramesh Maratha, Senior Broadcaster, All India radio conducted the proceedings of the function while the vote of thanks was presented by the Ashok Paras himself.
