AJMER: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday presented a chadar on behalf of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi at the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti here during the 808th Urs of the Sufi saint.
Mr Gehlot, deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, party state in charge Avinash Pandey and AICC Minority Department chairman Nadeem Javed visited the dargah of the 11th century saint.
Mr Nadeem read out the message of Ms Gandhi outside Dargah Sharif in which she said she was happy to present the chadar at Khwaja’s dargah.
Ms Gandhi said Khwaja Saheb’s dargah is known for Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (poetic Awadhi phrase for a distinctive, syncretic Hindu-Muslim culture) and communal harmony. Ms Gandhi wished for peace, brotherhood, communal harmony in the country. Solidarity of all will defeat the hatred, she said.
State Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma and Congress leaders Ashk Ali Tank and Abid Kagji were also present on the occasion. (AGENCIES)
