JAMMU, July 7: Former MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar has demanded regularization of all left out members of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) to the rank of SPOs.
During a tour of Dessa valley, Kumar urged upon the government to immediately provide the pending honorarium to VDCs members which is pending from the last four years.
Interacting with VDC members, he said Government’s improper treatment with members of VDCs is worrisome as many young VDC members have sacrificed their lives for the cause of nation during peak of insurgency in J&K.
The former MLA claimed that Government lacks proper planning of VDCs as there are eight members in a VDC and three of these are called SPOs and they get wages of Rs 18,000 per month but the remaining VDC members have not been paid any wages in the last four years.
He strongly demanded regularization of left out VDC members.
Kumar claimed that all the VDC members of Kashmir region have been promoted to the rank of SPOs in J&K police but there is discrimination with the left out VDC members of Chenab valley in this regard.
