JAMMU, Oct 29: The Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care at ASCOMS Hospital, in collaboration with the Department of Anaesthesia, ICU and Pain Medicine of GMC Jammu, under the banner of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) Jammu City Branch, today held a “Know Your Anaesthesiologist” awareness campaign to highlight the vital role of anaesthesia professionals in healthcare.
A special awareness play and an interactive lecture session were the key attractions of the event, aimed at dispelling myths and enhancing public understanding of the expertise anaesthesiologists bring to patient care.
The programme was attended by doctors, paramedical staff, patients and attendants, along with faculty from various institutions including Dr Sangeeta Singh from Gandhi Nagar Hospital.
Director Principal of ASCOMS, Dr Pavan Malhotra, who was the chief guest, shared insightful remarks on the expanding scope of anaesthesia services and their importance in modern medicine.
ISA Jammu City Branch leaders, Dr Ashwani (president) and Dr Updesh (general secretary), also addressed the gathering.
A creative play coordinated by Dr Santosh, Dr Jasmeen and Dr Anshu engaged the audience by portraying real-life medical scenarios involving anaesthesiologists in operation theatres, ICUs and emergency care. The interactive lecture sessions by senior anaesthesiologists and surgeons further informed the audience about patient safety, advanced techniques and the specialty’s evolving role.
