Arvind highlights key issues of Jammu West constituency

JAMMU, Jan 5: Arvind Gupta, senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu West, today said that he discussed various pressing issues of Jammu West constituency with Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
During the meeting, Arvind Gupta raised the need for significant improvements in the medical infrastructure at the Sub-District Hospital, Sarwal. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the hospital’s Emergency Wing to function 24×7 by equipping it with modern medical facilities, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a Blood Bank. Such upgrades, he stated, would significantly reduce the dependency on the overburdened Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
Gupta who was addressing a function organized in his honour by Shiv Mandir Committee said he stressed the need to enhance the emergency services at GMC Jammu and its associated hospitals. He proposed the deployment of professional Medical Services Managers and the establishment of Medical Boards to oversee the treatment of critical patients, thus minimizing referrals and providing timely care to those in need.
The BJP leader also invited attention of LG to the need for extending Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) benefits to all pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir. While acknowledging the current coverage for certain categories, he urged the administration to either expand the scheme or introduce a similar initiative for pensioners not currently covered under the scheme.
Arvind Gupta also called for the establishment of Senior Citizens Day Care Centers, similar to the one in Roop Nagar, in other parts of the city. He emphasized that these centers are essential for the welfare and social engagement of senior citizens. He highlighted the dire condition of educational institutes in Jammu city, which suffer from inadequate infrastructure, poor management, and insufficient subject-wise staffing. Immediate intervention, he suggested, is necessary to improve the quality of education in the region.
Arvind also proposed the establishment of night shelters for the homeless in Jammu and other cities of the region.
Arvind Gupta urged the Lieutenant Governor to prioritize these issues. He expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to address these concerns effectively, ensuring a better quality of life for the people of Jammu West.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, has assured MLA Arvind Gupta telephonically that the issues concerning the general public, as highlighted during the discussion with LG, would be addressed on a priority basis.
