JAMMU, Mar 3: The foundation stone for the construction of a six-classroom block at Government Girls High School (GGHS), Gole Gujral, was laid on Tuesday by Arvind Gupta, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu West. The project is being executed under the Jammu & Kashmir School Education Department through the PWD (R&B) Division at an estimated cost of Rs 1.6 crore.
The new block will comprise classrooms on the ground and first floor, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and providing improved academic facilities for students. The initiative is expected to address space constraints and create a better learning environment for girl students in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Gupta emphasized his commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure.
“Quality education begins with quality infrastructure. Our priority is to ensure that students, especially girls, receive education in a safe, well-equipped, and motivating environment,” he said. He added that the project reflects a focused effort to upgrade school facilities and support holistic development.
Gupta further stated that investment in education is an investment in the future of society. “We are determined to create modern and student-friendly institutions that empower our children to pursue their dreams with confidence,” he remarked.
The ceremony was attended by Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Pritpal Singh, Raj Kumar, Arun Dubey, Rajesh Saini, Anil Rakwal, Ravinder Khajuria, and Vicky, along with the school principal, staff members, and officers of the PWD (R&B) Division.
Officials informed that the project would be completed within the stipulated time frame, ensuring minimal disruption to academic activities. The event concluded with appreciation for the collective efforts aimed at strengthening the education sector in Jammu.
