JAMMU, Jan 16: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta today organized a Janta Darbar to address public grievances of Jammu district.
The Janta Darbar was held in the presence of district BJP president, Rajesh Gupta, along with party leaders, Reema Padha, Ravi Kant, and Suneet Raina, who actively participated in listening to and documenting the concerns of residents.
A large number of people from different localities of Jammu West constituency attended the darbar and presented their issues directly before the MLA and party representatives.
The urgent concerns raised by citizens included untimely and prolonged power cuts, deteriorating sanitation conditions, irregular water supply, and inadequate civic amenities. Many residents complained that despite repeated representations to the authorities, their problems remained unresolved.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Gupta strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah-led Government for its “complete failure” in delivering basic services, particularly during the ongoing harsh winter season.
He stated that Jammu division has been suffering from frequent and unscheduled power cuts, causing severe inconvenience to common people, especially students, elderly citizens, and patients.
“The NC-led Government has miserably failed in ensuring uninterrupted power supply in Jammu, despite making tall claims of development and good governance,” Gupta said.
He added that the situation has worsened in recent months, with households and businesses facing daily outages that disrupt normal life.
On the issue of sanitation, Gupta alleged that municipal services in several areas of Jammu district are in a state of neglect. He pointed out that irregular garbage collection, and poor cleanliness have created unhygienic conditions, posing health risks to residents.
The MLA assured the public that he would take up their grievances with the concerned departments at the highest level and press for immediate redressal.
He also directed local BJP workers to stay in constant touch with residents and provide necessary support in resolving issues related to electricity, sanitation, and public services.
The MLA emphasized that the BJP remains committed to serving the people of Jammu and fighting for their rights. He urged the Omar Government to take urgent steps to improve power supply and sanitation services instead of making empty promises.
