JAMMU, Aug 12: MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta today attended a special wheelchair distribution camp organized for children with special needs, held here at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar.
The event was conducted by the Chief Education Officer Jammu, Ajeet Sharma, in collaboration with SAMAGRA Shiksha and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).
The camp was also attended by BJP Mandal president Kushant Prajapati, senior leader Atul Bakshi, ZEO Jammu Ruksana Kosar, Principal of the host school Jabeen Akhtar and ZEPO Marh, Chander Uday Khajuria.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Arvind Gupta said, “This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring that children with special needs receive the care, support, and opportunities they deserve. Inclusion is not just a policy but a responsibility for every member of society.”
He added, “Collaborations like these, between educational bodies and organizations like ALIMCO, are vital to empower specially-abled children by providing them with assistive devices that enhance their mobility and independence. It is heartening to see the community come together for such a noble cause.”
The distribution camp focused on providing assistive devices to children, marking a significant step toward their social integration and improved quality of life.
The initiative is part of a broader effort under the SAMAGRA Shiksha Scheme to foster inclusive education and equal opportunities for all children.
Chief Education Officer, Ajeet Sharma and other dignitaries reiterated the importance of such programmes in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support for the welfare of children with special needs.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude from the beneficiaries, emphasizing the positive impact such interventions have on their children’s lives.
