JAMMU, Aug 20: Arun Prabhat, State president BJYM, Jammu Kashmir, strongly condemned the inflicting of serious injuries on a VDG by a constable and Dy SP (Prob) at Prem Nagar, Doda few days back after beating him brutally.
An unfortunate incident has happened in Doda in which a VDG member has beaten badly as he fired two rounds upon seeing a potential terrorist activity at Pernote in Doda, Arun Prabhat said in a statement today.
He said next day he was summoned by probationary Dy SP and instead of encouraging him, the officer along with a cop has beaten the brave VDG member inflicting serious injuries on his person.
This heinous act will demoralize the brave nationalist forces who are fighting with the terrorism in the region since decades, Arun Prabhat said. An Inquiry Committee has already been initiated by higher police officials but merely initiating inquiry will not be fair enough, he added.
He said Village Defence Guards have remained a firm and committed cadre to fight and eliminate the terrorism without receiving any fixed remuneration for their unprecedented services.
Such incidents have sent shockwaves across the region, with locals expressing deep anguish and anger. This is unlawful, unacceptable act and has no place in a civilized society, Prbahat said.
Prabhat appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha and DGP, Nalin Prabhat to kindly intervene and terminate such officers who are trying to malign the image of the police and demoralising the patriotic forces in the region.
