RAJOURI, Jan 12: As part of the ongoing road safety initiatives and on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, an awareness and health check-up camp for commercial vehicle operators was today organized by the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Rajouri, Rajesh Gupta in collaboration with the Health Department and AYUSH Department at the Sunderbani Bus Stand.
The camp was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sunderbani, Ramkesh Sharma, who underscored the vital role played by commercial vehicle operators in ensuring road safety and public welfare. He said that the physical and mental fitness of drivers is directly linked to safe driving and accident prevention. The ADC added that such camps facilitate early detection of health issues and encourage responsible and disciplined driving behavior. He appreciated the coordinated efforts of the ARTO, Health, and AYUSH Departments for reaching out to drivers at their workplace.
Speaking on the occasion, the ARTO Rajouri said that commercial drivers often operate under strenuous conditions and long working hours, making periodic health check-ups and awareness programmes essential. He reiterated the commitment of the Transport Department towards promoting road safety through continuous awareness drives, health screening camps, and sensitization of drivers about adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices, particularly for commercial vehicles.
During the camp, commercial vehicle operators were screened for basic health parameters and provided medical consultations. They were also advised on fitness, stress management, preventive healthcare, and the importance of maintaining physical and mental well-being for safe driving.
A large number of commercial vehicle operators participated in the camp and lauded the initiative taken for their health, welfare, and road safety.
