JAMMU, June 14: The North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, y organised the SanskritikYatra – Sindhu Darshan Festival today at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
MLA Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest on the occasion. He expressed delight at witnessing the vivid cultural diversity of India and stated: “We are truly fortunate to experience the essence of India’s unity through such enriching performances that bring different regions closer.”
Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in preserving India’s traditional heritage and fostering communal harmony.
The festival brought together a vibrant confluence of folk traditions and classical forms from across Northern India, celebrating the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” The audience was treated to mesmerizing performances by about 100 artists including Ghadiyali from the UT of Jammu & Kashmir; Bhangra and Jindua from Punjab; Ghoomer and Phag from Haryana; Bhawai from Rajasthan; Barsana Ki Holi and MayurRaas from Uttar Pradesh; Bihu from Assam; PuruliaChhau from Jharkhand; and a soul-stirring Folk/Sufi singing performance by Mohd Irshad from Punjab.
Organised under the banner of the ongoing national initiative “AzadiKaAmritMahotsav,” commemorating 75 years of India’s independence, the event highlighted India’s rich and diverse cultural tapestry and served as a platform for regional artists to present their art and heritage.
