JAMMU May 12: The election of the All Artist’s Welfare Association of Jammu Province was held here at K. L Saigal , Hall , here today in which over 200 artists of the various streams participated .
Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan Kendra , Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion who assured the artist’s that she will always work for welfare of the artists and also appealed them to remain united so far as the great cause for which the Association has been established.
Er. Vijay Sharma was elected as chairman, Mushtaq Kak , noted theatre director as Vice – chairman , Dr. Kamal Sharma as President and Dr. Sudhir Mahajan as general secretary while Seema Devi and Neeraj Sethi were elected as Cashiers .
To run the organization in a systematic way the various joint secretaries were also elected in various disciplines who included Urja Singh Slathia in Dance discipline, Suriender Manhas in Vocal, Rakesh Anand in Instumental, Ravinder Sharma and Pankaj Sharma in theatre and Rajinder Narang in Media ( Television and radio ) besides Daya Ram has been elected as publicity secretary .
Prominent among those who spoke on this occasion included Sanjeev Nirdosh , Rakesh Anand , O P Shakir , Rishi Kavi , Akram Khan and Mohan Mistri, president of the Association Reasi and Udhampur . Ms Veena Dogra , Umesh Singh, J. R Sharma Jacson, Rakesh Kona, Usha Slathia, OP Deepak, Suriender Singh Manhas, Mr Verman and Satiesh Shant , Ajay Sharma , T. S Premi, Shashi Bushan and Vishab Ratta were also present
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by the Urja Singh Slathia.
