Artists asked to empanel themselves with ICCR

JAMMU, Feb 27: Indian Council for Cultural Relations Jammu, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has invited artists, musicians, performers, groups to empanel themselves with ICCR.
Giving details, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, Balwant Thakur informed that without the empanelment with the ICCR, the artists, musicians, performers and the groups interested to perform within country as well as outside India in the International events will not be considered.  “Only empanelled artists are considered for performances abroad,” he said.
The application forms can be downloaded from ICCR’s website www.iccrindia.net. The duly filled 16 page form along with requisite enclosures could be sent directly to ICCR headquarters for consideration.
Giving elaborate information about the activities and programmes of ICCR Balwant Thakur informed that ICCR was founded in 1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Council helps formulate and implement policies pertaining to India’s external cultural relations, to foster mutual understanding between India and other countries and to promote cultural exchanges with other people.
ICCR’s programmes include foreign cultural festivals in India, Indian festivals abroad, the sending and receiving of cultural troupes, the holding of exhibitions and of conferences and seminars both in India and abroad, inviting distinguished world personalities to India, sponsoring the visits of Indian scholars and artists abroad, and providing a platform for upcoming artistes to present their talent globally.
