Arrested Section Officer placed under suspension

JAMMU, Mar 12: Agriculture Production Department, J&K Government, has ordered suspension of its Section Officer, Asif Ahmad Bhat, who was caught red handed accepting bribe and subsequently arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
“Pending enquiry into the matter, Asif Ahmad Bhat has hereby placed under suspension with effect from March 7, 2024 (48 hours after his arrest) in terms of Rule 31(2) of Jammu and Kashmir Civil services (Classification), control and Appeal) Rules, 1956,” read the order, in this regard.
As already reported, CBI had arrested Asif Ahmad Bhat, Section Officer, Sheep & Husbandry and Fisheries Section of Agriculture Production Department, Civil Secretariat, for demanding bribe of Rs 5,00,000 from the complainant for issuing/ processing case of the complainant’s father for appointment as Stock Assistant in the department.
A trap was laid on 05.03.2025, during which, the accused was caught while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant through online UPI transaction for processing the file. Subsequently, the accused was arrested and produced before the Court that remanded him to Judicial Custody for 14 days.
