JAMMU, July 9: The Jammu unit of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today produced all the three arrested Railway employees before a local court and got them remanded to custody for their sustained questioning.
Identified as Tarsem Lal, Tilak Raj and Kameshwar, posted in Goods & Parcel Section of Northern Railway, at Jammu Railway Station, all the three were caught red-handed with Rs 20,000 bribe money on Monday by CBI sleuths (Anti-corruption wing). While releasing goods of a trader worth lakhs, these employees demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe from the trader and showed the goods under weight.
The trader told the Railway employees that he will come with money after some time and in the meanwhile he contacted SP CBI Jammu who sent a team led by a DSP, which organized a trap and arrested all the three employees. They were produced in the court of law and the team sought their remand. The CBI sleuths after taking remand has started their interrogation.
A senior CBI officer said that they had information about this menace at Goods and Parcel Section and the Reservation Section of the Northern Railways at Jammu Station. Some more beneficiaries of the money will be in the net shortly. The record has been seized and interrogation started. He said a close vigil has been started by CBI men at the Jammu Station on such unfair activities.
