Around 200 kanals of forest land retrieved

BHADERWAH, Aug 12: The sleuths of Forest Division Bhaderwah (FDB) alongwith Forest Protection Force (FPF) Doda and police retrieved around 200 kanals of forest land at Tanta area of District Doda.
After getting several inputs and written complaints about the massive encroachment of forest land in Tanta area of Tehsil Kahara, a team of BFD along with FPF Doda and police headed by Incharge Range Officer Chiralla Range Sunil Sharma visited the area and retrieved about 200 kanals of forest land at Tanta area in compartment number 5/Jai of Chiralla Range.
The team after removing the fence erected by the encroachers around the forest land also destroyed a portion of maize crop on the encroached land.
When contacted DFO Bhaderwah Khalid Amin Mehta said, “We retrieved the land from the offenders and if anyone found to encroach the forest land again, he will be booked under relevant sections of Forest Act”.
“We are bound to save the forest and forest land and for permanent solution, we have prepared a detailed proposal to fence the forest land of the particular compartment in Tanta area. We are hopeful that our proposal will get approved and we will be able to raise the fence at the earliest”, officer said, adding that he had issued strict instructions to the concerned field staff to remain vigilant against any such attempt of encroachment and take prompt and timely action.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of DFO Bhaderwah Khalid Amin Mehta and Deputy Director FPF J8-Doda Mohinder Singh under the overall supervision of TB Singh, Conservator of Forests Chenab Circle.
