JAMMU, June 15: BJP MLC and senior leader of the Party, Ramesh Arora who has launched a crusade against the sale of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) products like Momos, Manchurian, Noodles, Champs and meat soup has appealed the people to refrain from eating the products which are made by using MSG for adding taste in them.
Talking to reporters here, today Arora said that Momos which being commonly sold in the city and its outskirts are most hazardous for health as MSG is being used in them too and out of seven samples of Momos taken from posh colonies and VIP areas of city the results of six were unsafe while that of one is still awaited.
He said this is very dangerous and awakening among the people is must about the dangerous of eating Momos as they can be cause of many ailments among the human beings.
Arora said some NGOs like Naya Sawera etc have associated with this campaign openly as they too feel that the awareness among the masses against the Momos and other food items which are prepared by using MSG is must as it causes serious damage to vital organs of a human being.
Arora while cautioning about ill effects of MSG said it stimulates pancreas and its side effects are high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, fat, burning sensation in the face, neck, breathing problems, headache, nausea, vomiting, fast heart beat. In the pregnant women it can affect baby by disturbing/breaking down placental barrier of food supply, he added.
He said it can also cause migraine, chest pain, cardiac muscles arrest, hypertension, Asthma, weight gain, sleep disorder, breathing and also can lead to cancer.
He said Dr Mercola a research scholar on MSG has termed it a silent killer that is even worst than alcohol, nicotine and even drugs and is likely lurking in the kitchen cabinets and even in child’s school cafeteria.
Arora appealed the people to join hands to “kill the killer” by educating the public about the ill effects of MSG. “We can’t allow the young generation to be ruined”. He also appealed youth to come forward to save their generation.
Govind Sareen, Ramesh Gupta, Sanjay Sharma, Kulwant Singh Batti, Kapil Arora, Ram Prashad and Rajeev Sethi were among others who were present in the press conference.
