RAJOURI, July 10: Indian Army brought mobility and hope to Thannamandi’s specially-abled by taking a caring initiative that combined compassion healthcare and service to humanity.
In collaboration with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, the Indian Army organized a major Medical aid distribution drive and free Medical Camp at Thannamandi in Rajouri District with the objective of uplifting specially-abled individuals from marginalized backgrounds.
The event marked the distribution of wheelchairs, aluminium crutches hearing aids blind sticks elbow crutches and orthotic devices to differently-abled children and adults. These aids were provided following individualized medical evaluations to ensure that beneficiaries received support tailored to their specific physical needs.
Held at a centrally located venue the program witnessed a massive turnout from across Rajouri and Poonch districts. In total 276 individuals including 160 men 80 women and 30 children benefited from the outreach initiative The event was attended by senior Indian Army officers including Colonel Rohit Bharat Commanding Officer 61 RR and Dr Capt Avi Tyagi along with civil dignitaries like District Secretary BJP Abdul Ghani Shawl, Haji Maqbool Raina, Ayaz Ahmed Hakla and Imran Khan president of Press Council Thannamandi
Brigadier B S Sandhu in his message stated that the Indian Army stands firmly by the people of Jammu and Kashmir-not just as protectors but as partners in peace progress and human dignity. This initiative is a testimony to our continued efforts to reach every corner of society and ensure that no one especially the most vulnerable is left behind.
Free medical camp was also held alongside the distribution drive where attendees were offered consultation vaccination and free medicines. The initiative also featured awareness lectures on preventive healthcare lifestyle diseases and community well-being delivered by various dignitaries and medical professionals.
