SRINAGAR : An Army porter was killed and his minor son injured after an avalanche struck near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector in north Kashmir, official sources said.
They said a 42-year-old porter identified as Ghulam Qadir Khan alias Duriya Khan and his 12 year- old-son Farooq Ahmed Khan were on way to Chakwali Tulail near LoC in Gurez sector when a snow avalanche struck.
Khan was swept away while his son was injured, they said adding efforts are being made to recover the body.
Rescue teams have been rushed but it is believed that the body might have swept away on the other side of the LoC, they said, adding troops of Pakistan would be contacted to help recover the body.
The area witnessed one to two feet of snowfall recently. (UNI)
