KISHTWAR,  Aug 29:  Army organised veterans rally at Chowgan Helipad, at Kishtwar town here today.
The rally was attended by a large number of  war veterans and `Veer Naris’ from the remote and  far- flung areas of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts alongwith their family members.
Commander, Kishtwar Rashtriya Rifles inaugurated the rally. In his inaugural address the Commander elaborated on various pensionary benefits and welfare schemes for veterans by Central and State Government and reiterated Army’s resolve to take care of the well being of the Veterans even after they have hung their uniforms as they are part of the extended family.
Further representative heads from various Army agencies and Government departments who had come to the rally from Udhampur, Jammu and Doda, he  highlighted the various schemes for veterans and Veer Naris  and their wards initiated by the Army, Central and State Government. Many stalls were established by Defence Welfare Departments to include Army Welfare Educational Society, Director General of Resettlement, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Rajya Sainik Board, Pension Disposal Office and representatives of  Records of JAK LI, JAK RIF, Dogra,  Punjab and Grenadiers regiments.
District administration had also placed stalls from Saffron Development authority, Horticulture, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Revenue, Animal Husbandry Departments, JKEDI, District Employment Office, District Industries Centre and KVIB. The rally had a total of 25 stalls established by various Army and State Government agencies including banks like SBI, HDFC and J&K Bank.
A medical camp was also established in conjunction with the District Medical authorities. The retired defence personnel, Veer Naris  and their families  benefited from the services of specialists from Eye, ENT, Dental and Ortho. Major General SS Tiniaker, General Officer Commanding, Delta Force was the Chief Guest on the occasion and felicitated over 60 Veer Naris and Widows of the Ex-Servicemen by presenting them gift hampers. Various medical equipments like hearing aids, crutches and walkers were also distributed to the needy octogenarian Veterans and their dependents.  Sandeep Wazir, Superintendent of Police was also present on the occasion and appreciated the gesture.
