JAMMU, Apr 12: Army organised a rally of ex-servicemen under the aegis of Chenab Bridgade near village Jhiri in Domana area of district Jammu today.
Maj General Ashwani Kumar, General Officer Commanding of the Tiger Division inaugurated the rally and interacted with the veterans and assured them all possible assistance from the Army. The veterans were also apprised about welfare schemes introduced by the Central and State Government and various welfare activities being undertaken by the Zila Sainik Board.
The GOC also assured all necessary assistance to mitigate the sufferings of the ex-servicemen. He also referred to the role being played by the ex-servicemen for maintaining peace and tranquility in the region. Nearly one thousand veterans attended the programme. As a part of meet, a grievance cell was established where the veterans were encouraged to register their grievances.
A medical camp was also established with the facility for the screening of diabetes, hypertension and cataract. A stall displaying details pertaining to various options of enrolment and commission into the Army was well appreciated. Booklets, giving information about the various benefits given to the veterans by the Army, Central and State Governments were also distributed. An SBI counter was also set up there.
