The first in the series of events was a quiet and simple ceremony of laying the wreath on the statue of the Brave Soldier, Naib Subedar Chuni Lal by Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles.
One minute silence was also observed remembering the ‘Son of Soil’ on this occasion, an apt recognition of the supreme sacrifice made by the gallant soldier. During the ceremony, the Army also invited Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and NCC Cadets from Bhaderwah Tehsil, in an effort to reach out to valuable and esteemed veterans, residing in remote areas of Bhaderwah.
A total of Nine Veer Naris/widows, 38 Ex-servicemen and 15 NCC cadets were present on the occasion. The veterans were given information of the latest welfare measures being extended by the Government and the Army and the Veer Naris/widows were felicitated with gifts.
Speaking on the occasion, Honorary Naib Subedar Raj Singh Charak thanked the Army and said that “It feels great to be recognised by an organization in which they have served during their prime time of youth and wished that this association continues forever”. The event came to an end with tea and refreshments.
