RAJOURI, July 6: An Army personnel died of a bullet injury from his own service rifle, inside a camp in Rajouri district last night.
Identified as Naik Ravi Kumar, the soldier, posted with 54 Rashtriya Rifles, was on Sentry duty when he died in the company headquarters in Solki, area near Sunderbani at around 1.30 am on Sunday, an official said.

He said his colleagues heard the sound of gunshot from his post and rushed to the scene to find him dead on-the-spot.
It could not be immediately ascertained whether the soldier died of suicide or accidental discharge from his rifle, the official said, adding police have started inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of his death. The Army authorities have also initiated inquiry into the matter.
