JAMMU, Dec 14: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle near village Chohala, falling under the jurisdiction of RS Pura Police Station.
As per police sources, an Army jawan of 118 Medium Regiment committed suicide by his service rifle (insas) while performing his duty near village Chohala in tehsil RS Pura.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Lance Naik Paresh Kumar Mishra, son of Umakant Mishra, a resident of Nandipur district Jaipur Orissa. He was deployed in the Romeo Battery Coy of 118 Medium Regiment stationed near Kunjwani.
Presently the regiment is a part of ongoing exercise of Army under the title of Kaamyab, which started on December 4 and will end on December 17.
After conducting autopsy, the body has been handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A case in this regard has been registered at RS Pura Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step.
