DODA, Apr 18: Rashtriya Rifles unit located in Bhaderwah area helped a girl child belonging to a poor family of Bharowa village by providing assistance for her medical treatment/ operation at a good hospital outside the State.
The child namely Shaliya Kouser, daughter of Mohd Nissar of Bharowa village was felicitated by the Unit officers after she returned after successful heart surgery at Dayanand Medical College Hospital Ludhiana. For helping this poor child, the Army in collaboration with local NGO, “Have a Heart” managed medical facilities and other assistance for the surgery and treatment besides boarding and lodging. The entire expenditure on the surgery of the child (Rs 2 lakh) was borne by the Army.
During a medical camp by the army the problem was detected in the child. The local NGO took up the case requesting the Army for sponsoring the child for Medical treatment. The surgery was conducted at Hero Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, which involved surgical closure of Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). The NGO and Army have restored the smile on the face of the child and her family members.
